Who are you?
I am Soewandi Kromojahjo. I'm a 3D artist, programmer, and game designer with about of 15 years of experience. Usually I work alone on my projects.
What are your skill sets?
Blender 3D: hard-surface modeller and generalist, and programmer in C#. The two go hand in hand into game design. Some of my work can be seen on this website (currently only 3D).
I also do various other things such as image/video/audio editing, writing, and web design. However they are very mediocre at best.
Hard-surface modeller? 3D generalist?
Hard-surface modelling refers to modelling of 'hard surface' objects like cars, furniture, buildings, and so on — everything that is not 'organic'.
Generalist means I am knowledgable in most areas, but not necessarily skilled at them. Whether it be vfx, motion tracking, sculpting, grease pencil(2d drawing) or otherwise.
What are your primary tools/software?
As all my software are available for the linux OS, I have chosen to use Linux Mint for my operating system. With that many of my tools are FOSS.
Blender 3D is naturally my choice of creative software.
Game engines I use GODOT. Though I have a fair amount of experience in other engines like MonoGame and Unity3D.
Why and how did you start using 3D and programming?
It all started when I was but a young boy in highschool. I already liked video games and was looking for a new thing to do: a hobby.
Thus I had tried my hand at making games myself and instantly jumped into the world of 3D and programming. Naturally nothing came of it, but I enjoyed the activity nevertheless.
Who has taught you all of this?
I have taught everything myself, and dare I say: I am quite proud of myself. With help of various educational sources I put one and one together, apply them, and refine my skills.
Trail-and-error has been a HUGE part of it. It has certainly been a rollercoaster of highs and lows, absolute failures and success.
What are you working on right now?
My current project is... a weird one: an in-game editor using the GODOT engine. This project was supposed to be a 'simple collectathon', but it turned out vastly different.
An another effort would be my library named 'RAP', which is an automated system to quickly load and save files to disk. Might sound simple on paper, but in reality it is a big effort to automate everything.
Besides those there are a handfull of other projects I occasionally pitch into; mostly 3D modelling, but also some 'experimental' games or games to explore on a topic and/or to refine some of my skillset
What are you most proud of?
Programming side is it 'RAP': an automated system that scans C# files and variables to find out what has to be written to file, and also load from file so the program can continue to function as intended.
And my own implementation of Midi Playback: which takes two files; a soundfont (instrument audio/sample library) and a midi (musical score for computers), and uses the two to synthesize the audio of the music piece.
Both projects were created without help of any additional libraries and they were written in C#.
Hard to say on the 3D side. Each new project that I finish is usually a new learning experience, with the end result being something I'd be proud of — Until the next project finishes.
Who made this website?
This website is made by myself — line by line. And currently only represents a 3D portfolio.
In the future many other things may be found such as a programming portfolio, video shorts section, and perhaps some web-games.
All of this will take time, as the adventure of web-design and creation started by creating this simple portfolio and certainly will not stop here.
